Gabions

The word gabion is derived from the Italian word gabbione meaning “big cage.” Gabion walls are made up of these gabions, or large cages. Fill them with rocks, glass, brick, wood, or a combination of repurposed materials! These large baskets can be stacked together and combined in a variety of ways.

Welded wire gabion walls and baskets provide more strength and durability. A lower cost, more versatile option is galvanized, woven wire mesh - these are more common for cylinders and irregular shapes. This is a great option for large landscaping projects such as a retaining wall, a key tool for erosion control and prevention.
